America
by Joseph Craig Johnson
June 2009
I wonder what our founding fathers would say
If they could see America today
Would they stand idly by
Watching our Christian heritage slowly die
Or would they rally around the flag
Saying stop treating it like some ordinary rag
That has absolutely no value or sentiment
Rather let your hearts lament
Over the fact that Jesus Christ is being erased from our nation's history
Or the generations that will never experience God's glory
Simply because more Christians are unwilling to stand
For the One who created and established this great land
Know that our founding fathers were willing to be sacrificed
So that we can follow the teachings of Jesus Christ
Without fear of retaliation
There is hope for our nation
Hope that is based on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ
Speaks of the blood that was sacrificed
So that we truly can stand
On the promises God gives to man
